How do I get my music into Kasset?
Three ways. Plug the phone into a Mac, open Finder → your iPhone → Files → Kasset, and drag folders in. AirDrop folders or files to the phone and choose Kasset. Or in the Files app, copy them into On My iPhone → Kasset. Then tap + in Kasset and pick the folder. It becomes a playlist.
My music is in another app's folder, like VLC
Tap +, then Browse another location… at the bottom. Pick the folder in the Files browser and Kasset reads it in place and remembers it. If the folder is on a USB drive that is not plugged in, its tracks show as missing until it is.
How do audiobooks work?
A folder of chapters, or a single M4B file, is a book. Kasset guesses from the file names; if it guessed wrong, the playlist's ⋯ menu has “This is a book” and “This is music”. A book remembers its place even while you play music, shows chapters inside a file, has 15 and 30 second skips, and plays from 0.75× to 3× without changing the voice.
Where do the covers come from?
If a song has artwork inside the file, that is what you see. If not, Kasset makes one the first time the song plays: with Apple Intelligence on supported iPhones, or painted from the sound on any iPhone. Generated covers carry a small label and never replace real art. The ⋯ menu on Now Playing can make one by hand, or remove it, and the cover setting in the Home menu turns generation off.
Why are the lyrics out of time?
Downloaded files often start a little earlier or later than the lyrics source. Open the lyrics, tap the minus or plus beside the source line to shift them by half a second, and Kasset remembers it for that song. If the timing is hopeless, switch that song to Flow, which scrolls the text with the song's progress instead of the timestamps.
Does it work with CarPlay and headphones?
Play, pause, next, previous, and the 15 and 30 second skips for books work from the lock screen, Control Center, headset buttons and CarPlay's Now Playing screen. AirPlay is in Now Playing. Browsing playlists on the car screen needs an Apple entitlement and is coming.
Which formats does it play?
MP3, AAC and M4A, M4B, ALAC, FLAC, WAV, AIFF and CAF. It does not play OGG, Opus or WMA, because iOS has no decoder for them. Playlist files in M3U, M3U8 and PLS are read, and a plain text list of “1. Title — Artist” lines can be matched against your files.
Is my data private?
Yes. Kasset collects nothing and has no server. The only online feature, lyrics lookup, is a switch that starts off. See the privacy policy.
