Privacy Policy

Kasset is built so that this policy can be short. We do not collect any data about you, your music, your books or your playlists. Everything happens on your iPhone. This page exists so the contract is explicit.

What the app collects

Nothing. The privacy label in the App Store reads “Data Not Collected”. That is accurate.

• No name, email, phone number or other contact information.
• No analytics, no crash reporters that phone home, no usage-tracking SDK, no advertising identifiers.
• No account. There is no login, because there is no server.

Your files

The audio you copy into Kasset stays in the app's own folder on your device, visible in the Files app. Folders you point Kasset at elsewhere on the device are read in place. Playlists, listening positions, generated covers and lyrics files are stored on the device only. Nothing is uploaded, and Kasset never writes into your audio files.

Covers made on the device

When a song has no artwork, Kasset can make a cover. On iPhones with Apple Intelligence this uses Apple's on-device Image Playground model; the title and a few mood words derived from the sound are processed on the phone and never leave it. On any iPhone, a cover can be painted from an analysis of the audio itself. Both run locally. You can turn covers off in the app's menu.

Auto lyric sync listens on the device

Kasset Pro's Auto lyric sync lines a song's timed lyrics up with the singing. It uses Apple's on-device speech recognition: the song is transcribed on your device, the words are matched to the lyrics there, and neither the audio nor the text is sent anywhere. The first time, iOS may download Apple's speech model for the language, as a system download from Apple; Kasset itself sends nothing.

Online lyrics lookup, if you switch it on

Kasset reads lyrics from your files' tags and from .lrc files beside them without any network. Separately, the lyrics screen has a switch, off by default, to look up lyrics online from LRCLIB, a community lyrics service. When it is on, Kasset sends the song's title, artist, album and length tolrclib.net once per song and caches the result on the device. No identifier accompanies the request. Turn the switch off and nothing is sent.

Free audiobooks from LibriVox, when you open them

Free audiobooks lists public-domain books read by LibriVox's volunteers, which the Internet Archive keeps. Only while you use it, Kasset asks archive.org for the list, for the words you search for and the language you pick, and for a book's page. Hearing a chapter before downloading plays it from archive.org as you listen, without saving it; downloading a book fetches its chapter files and cover from archive.org into Kasset's folder on your device. No account, no identifier and nothing about your library or your listening is sent. Like any website, the Internet Archive sees the request come from your internet connection; its own terms apply to that. A downloaded book plays offline and is left out of your device's iCloud backup, since it can always be downloaded again.

Kasset Pro, the one-time purchase

Kasset Pro is bought through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the payment; Kasset never sees your card, your name or your Apple Account. On the device, Apple's StoreKit tells Kasset only whether this Apple Account owns Kasset Pro, so the extra features can be switched on and a purchase can be restored. Kasset has no server: nothing about the purchase is sent to us, and the “Data Not Collected” label stays accurate.

This website

The pages you are reading are served by Firebase Hosting and use Google Analytics 4 to count page views, which pages get read and roughly where readers come from. There is no advertising here and no profiles are built.

• Until you accept, nothing is stored on your device. Analytics storage starts denied; the visit is counted as an anonymous ping with no cookie and no identifier.
• If you accept, Google Analytics sets its own cookies so a returning visit is not counted as a new person. Google processes that data on our behalf.
• Advertising signals stay off permanently, accepted or not.
• You can change your choice at any time.

Children

Kasset does not collect data from anyone, including children, and shows no ads.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the date above changes with it.
